On Charity

char·i·ty:

1:  benevolent goodwill toward or love of humanity

2 a :  generosity and helpfulness especially toward the needy or suffering; also :  aid given to those in need

:  an institution engaged in relief of the poor

:  public provision for the relief of the needy
3 a :  a gift for public benevolent purposes
:  an institution (as a hospital) founded by such a gift
4:  lenient judgment of others
There is nothing I can say to adequately describe the incredible charity I have felt over the past few weeks.  People that I consider childhood friends, people who were once considered much less than friends, people I’ve never met and live thousands of miles away, family and the friends that love and know me best have lifted me up in charity.  I am forever grateful.  This lesson alone has taught me so much.  It’s teaching me how much more I need to be for others.  I don’t know how or what, but when my little journey with cancer is finished, this will be paid forward.
I have been blessed with so many prayers, prepared dinners, offers of help with my kids, cleaning, and the awesome giant box of throw away cups, plates, napkins and Clorox wipes my super awesome Aunt Kathy left in my backyard yesterday.  I’ve been asked on coffee dates from long ago girl friends, shopping dates and phone calls just to ‘air out any frustrations’ or get in some good mom talk.  During our busy lives we sometimes forget how important human contact is outside of our immediate family.  Refreshed mommies and wives make good mommies and wives!  As far as the shopping goes, there’s nothing more embarrassing than asking the elderly gentleman standing in front of the milk section with you if he wouldn’t mind picking up that gallon of milk and lifting it in your cart.  Having a broken sternum sucks.  The charity of help is such a blessing.
So, thank you, thank you, for the prayers and support.  They have made all the difference!
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”  Luke 6:38

  1. You under estimate the enormous gifts you have given others! You have been a beautiful example of a young women for my daughter, which I will always be grateful for! Your kind spirit always giving others
the benefit of doubt. Always being faithful to your long time friends, they clearly love you so much! You have always been a women that knows where she’s headed and up for the challenge. You are a true treasure, now fight and rest when can and allow others to fight with you!

  4. Love:

1.nLove refers to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes that ranges from interpersonal affection (“I love my daughter”) to pleasure (“I loved that meal”).

    2. It can refer to an emotion of a strong attraction and personal attachment.

[1] It can also be a virtue representing human kindness, compassion, and affection—”the unselfish loyal and benevolent concern for the good of another”.
[2] It may also describe compassionate and affectionate actions towards other humans.

Stephanie, AK is right that you underestimate the impact you have on others you come in contact with. You have always had that little something that makes a difference in people’s lives and so it is so easy to love you. That, too is one of your many attributes that makes you unique.

You have the prayers, blessings, support and charity of many, but you also have so much love coming your way. We are all lifting you and your beautiful family up in prayer and love. It is an honor to be able to be there for all of you and do anything possible to help you in this fight.

From one tiger mom to another…let’s destroy this beast!

I love you more than you can ever know, Mom

  5. Your mom and Aunt Kathy said it perfectly. We all love you because you are an amazing person. Your friendship is beyond a blessing. Love you friend.

  6. As you encounter each bump in the road on your journey to health, know the road is being paved in love and the bumps will become smooth and the journey will have a miraculous conclusion. Many prayers coming your way, MJ

  7. Steph, You sent out good deeds and love, and it is coming back to you. The first time I met you I was so excited because Lee had found his soul mate. You were so warm and loving to us and I knew then you were something special. I am so grateful for all your friends and family and all the support they are giving you, you so deserve it. Although your journey is going to be challenging, you are not alone you have angels around and God giving you the strength to endure anything that comes your way. We love you very much and although we are not there with you physically we are there in spirit. Being a catholic girl that I am I have started a novena to help you get through this to saint Peregrine who had an angel for his companion, the blessed Mother for his teacher, and Jesus as the physician for his malady. My mom always told me when faced with afflictions leave them to the Lord he will show you the way. She was big on novenas and her prayers were always answered.

  8. You have such a kind heart! You are one of the strongest ladies I have ever met!! You will beat this, I will be praying for you every step of the way! Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help! Just email me that grocery list and I can go for you.. (I’m there every Monday any way!!) love ya! Taron
